EIT Digital’s „The Future of Education for Digital Skills“ is part of the EIT Digital Makers & Shapers report series.
In this new report EIT Digital evaluates the issues of digital skills and digital specialisation in particular, taking into account the education and training offer in the broad sense presented by both the public and private sectors, identifying the major gaps, and extracting future scenarios from them.
Once analysed the main trends both in the public and private training offering, the report identifies four main gaps:
- Clear fragmentation across Europe in the approach towards digital competences
- On average, European institutions at university level for specialised digital skills are slow to change their curricula and adapting to the dynamism of the labour market needs
- Lack of private sector offer addressing the average level of the digital skills
- The offers of the technology giants and specialised structures in the private sector tend to focus on their own labour market needs and to be exclusive
Three recommendations to tackle the education for digital skills
