The European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) is a pan-European joint initiative of the European Commission, all EU Member States, Norway and Liechtenstein aiming to use the power of blockchain technology for the public good.
About EBSI
EBSI is the first public-driven blockchain initiative of its kind, working to use blockchain technology to provide better public services for citizens across Europe. This includes creating cross-border services for public administration, businesses, citizens in all EU member states as well as Norway and Liechtenstein. EBSI is made up of three core technical services: APIs, Smart Contracts and the ledger. These are fully decentralised into a network of nodes across Europe.
What can you do with EBSI?
For businesses interested in improving their processes using blockchain, EBSI has developed frameworks for solving problems grouped into thematic areas called “Use Case Families”. These ‘families’ include: Verifiable Credentials (for example: document traceability or diplomas), Track & Trace, and Trusted Data Exchange. Another use of the EBSI ecosystem is a digital wallet that lets you access, store and share your information across Europe.
