Apprenticeships and the digital transition

As the digital transition accelerates, apprenticeships must evolve to meet the emerging skill demands of the modern workforce. This publication originates from the third joint Cedefop/OECD symposium on apprenticeships and the digital transition that was held on 15 and 16 June 2023 at the opening of the European Year of Skills. The publication showcases both the results of the symposium itself and all the research papers that had been presented at the event.

The 12 research papers in this collection examine the role of apprenticeship in developing skills for the digital transition, presenting research evidence and insights from practice from around the world. Topics include the evolving skill requirements resulting from the digital transition, their influence on apprenticeship systems, how apprenticeships can facilitate and encourage this transition, and the advantages they can gain from adopting and effectively using technology in delivering both school-based and workplace elements.
