Computer education in schools in Europe (Eurydice report 2022)

Educating pupils in computer science at school is essential to equip every citizen with the basic knowledge necessary to participate, influence and contribute to the development of the digital world. Moreover, the digital economy, which is to play a key role in Europe’s recovery from the pandemic, requires digitally competent citizens and workers.

This report examines subjects that, throughout primary and secondary education, include IT-related learning outcomes in 37 European countries (39 education systems). It also analyses teachers’ qualifications in these subjects, training programmes and other support measures at their disposal.
