These Eurostat statistics present data on digital literacy among young people in the Member States. Before the pandemic (2019), four out of five young people (80 %) aged 16-24 in the European Union (EU) had basic or higher digital skills. This was 24 percentage points higher than the proportion of people aged 16-74 (56 %).
The highest share of people aged 16-24 with basic digital skills or more (97 %), followed by Estonia, Lithuania and the Netherlands (all 3 93 %) and Greece (92 %).
By contrast, the lowest shares were recorded in Romania (56 %), Bulgaria (58 %), Italy (65 %), Hungary (68 %), Latvia and Luxembourg (both 75 %).
