This report summarises the results of studies carried out by European Computer Driving Licence’s (ECDL) National Operators in five European countries (Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Switzerland) and discusses their implications for digital skills development on the national and European levels.
The studies consist of two key parts: self-assessment and practical assessment of digital skills.
The findings show that people tend to overestimate their skills and that significant skills gaps exist even in the analysed countries, which are usually considered to be digitally advanced.
