The future of the Czech labour market

The Czech economy, with the exception of 2020, grew by 3-6 % year-on-year in recent years. In addition to the current high inflation, the lack of an efficient workforce (simplified combination of education/skills and the gross labour force) will hold back further GDP growth. In addition to the already current shortage of workers, which will continue to increase due to demographic developments, there will be a significant change in the structure of the labour market: some positions will disappear and new ones will emerge.

If the state, employers and employees do not take active measures to adapt to these changes, the Czech economy risks losing competitiveness, increasing unemployment and slowing down growth.

  • Which jobs will disappear and which, on the contrary, will emerge on the market?
  • Where to close labour shortages?
  • What will need to be done in the field of reskilling and what measures need to be taken to cope with the future transformation of the labour market without major negative effects?
